Tooth Pain

How we can help

Tooth pain can be extremeley debilitating, it can be caused by a number of different issues.

Our team of experienced Dentists will discuss your symptoms with you and carry out a thorough investigation of the underlying cause. It is always our aim to ease your discomfort during your initial appointment, however sometimes it may be necessary to bring you back for additional treatment.

Here's some tips in the meantime...

  • We normally suggest to take your usual painkillers such as paracetamol 500mg or Calpol for children. Please do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • Adults can use warm salty mouthwash or Corsodyl daily or Curasept rinses to help.
  • We advise you try and maintain your regular teeth brushing and flossing routines.
  • Sometimes pain relieving mouth gels are available at pharmacies and supermarkets can help.
  • If the area is sore when you are eating, try to eat on the other side and try a soft diet.
  • Try and contact your dentist as soon as possible to get some advice or book in an emergency consultation. If you have seen another dentist who has taken x-rays of your tooth please forward this on to your new dentist to help them.

Broken Tooth

Broken or Lost Crown

How we can help

It can be extremely stressful if you have a crown or veneer that has broken or come away, this is especially the case when it's a front tooth.

If the glue has simply failed and the tooth and crown are still in good condition your Dentist will be able to clean the tooth and the crown and recement the crown back in.

If the core of the tooth has fractured or decayed underneath your Dentist will need to assess the damage and advise if the tooth is restorable or not. If so then they may need to make a new crown. If there is not much remaining tooth left then the tooth may need to be removed, but your Dentist will be able to discuss all the options with you.

Here's some tips in the meantime...

  • If your crown or veneer has come away, keep this somewhere safe and bring it with you to your appointment.
  • Adults can use warm salty mouthwash to help keep the area clean.
  • We advise you try and maintain your regular teeth brushing and flossing routines.
  • If you are in pain we normally suggest to take your usual painkillers such as paracetamol 500mg or Calpol for children. Please do not exceed the recommended dose.
